Rebuilding My Life After Hurricane Helene Flood
Donation protected
The Unexpected Disaster
On Sep 28th-29th, Hurricane Helene unleashed on Atlanta, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. My apartment, along with many others near the Peachtree Creek that overflowed, fell victim to severe flooding. In a matter of hours, I lost nearly everything I owned - furniture, clothes, electronics, and irreplaceable personal items.
The Harsh Reality
As a renter, I've been hit with a double blow. My renter's insurance doesn't cover flood damage, and I'm now faced with the daunting task of rebuilding my life from scratch. I've had to leave my home and am currently staying with a friend, but this is only a temporary solution.
What I'm Facing
- Replacement of essential items (clothes, furniture, appliances)
- Costs associated with finding and moving to a new apartment
- Detailing my car due to water damage
- Potential legal fees to ensure my rights as a tenant are protected
- Unexpected medical expenses due to potential mold exposure
- Therapy costs to cope with the emotional trauma of this disaster
How You Can Help
Your donation, no matter the size, will go directly towards helping me get back on my feet. Here's how your contribution can make a difference:
$20 can help replace some essential clothing items
$50 can contribute to a new bed
$100 can help cover a week's worth of temporary housing
$500 can significantly aid in furnishing a new apartment
My Promise
I'm committed to using every dollar responsibly and efficiently. I'll provide updates on my progress and how the funds are being used.
