Rebuilding My Life After Grief

Hi, my name is Ceara. Over the last several years, my life has been shaped by profound loss, survival, and trying to rebuild after losing almost everyone closest to me. I’ve experienced the loss of multiple pregnancies, my best friend and partner, my mom, my grandma, and most recently my stepdad — the last parent figure I had left. Grief on that scale changes every part of a person’s life. It impacts emotional stability, mental health, finances, relationships, and your sense of belonging in the world. After my stepdad passed away, I also lost access to many sentimental belongings connected to my mom and the home I once knew. Since then, I’ve been trying to rebuild my life largely on my own while carrying the weight of years of loss and instability. Even through everything, I never stopped trying to create something meaningful from what I’ve survived.

For years, I’ve been developing creative projects, writing, and building ideas centered around sustainability, healing, and rebuilding. One of those projects is an app concept called “End Up,” designed to help people better understand the lifecycle and environmental impact of everyday objects and materials in one place. I’ve also begun building my website, shop, and creative platforms as part of my effort to create long-term stability and independence for myself instead of remaining stuck in survival mode. I may not be where I want to be yet, but I have started. I’m actively working toward building something real and meaningful for my future.

Through all of the instability in my life, one thing I’ve always remained committed to is caring for my rescue animals, many of whom I’ve had for over 10 years. They’ve been the one constant in my life through loss, grief, and major life changes. No matter what I was personally going through, I always made sure they had love, safety, food, and stability even during times when I struggled to provide those things for myself. Right now, I’m in the difficult space between surviving and rebuilding. This fundraiser is meant to help me create enough stability to continue moving forward instead of constantly falling behind while trying to heal and build a future at the same time.

Asking for help does not come naturally to me. I’ve carried a lot alone for a very long time. But I also know that sometimes rebuilding becomes possible because other people chose to help someone keep going when life became too heavy to carry by themselves. If you’re able to donate, share, or support in any way, thank you for taking the time to read my story and be part of helping me rebuild my life. I truly hope to turn everything I’ve survived into something meaningful — not only for myself, but eventually for others too.
