Rebuilding My Husband's Smile Together

Donation protected
If you know my husband Cj, or even if you don’t…you need to know that he is one of the strongest people in the world and hates to be at the mercy of his body. An unfortunate event took place on Saturday the 1st. We had finished dinner in Kentucky at the Mellow Mushroom and were gonna food shop after, which is what we normally do on the weekends. We ate and then when got the bill, he thought he felt really full and thought he was going to get sick. I stayed at the booth to finish filling out the tip as he headed to the bathroom. Then a waitress came and got me telling me had fallen in the lobby. He didnt even make it to the bathroom, got lightheaded/dizzy, turned around to sit down and fell like a tree right on his face. When I got to him he was bleeding from his mouth and a large gash on his neck along with separation in his teeth. An ambulance was called and he was brought to the hospital. They did various tests in Somerset and then we got transferred to UT for further testing, CT Scans/X-rays, Echocardiogram and potential surgery. All tests have came back clean (thank goodness!) they believe dehydration and vagus nerve stimulation were the culprit. The doctors thought he had been in a car crash or got into a fight with a baseball as they have never seen injuries to this extent from a fall. He ended up with 10 fractures to the lower jaw, 6 in the upper and sinus/ear ruptures. The amazing surgeons at UT performed magic on him Sunday evening and were very pleased with the results. He has braces, brackets along with many plates and screws to put him back together. We have a long recovery road ahead but are staying positive on the outcome. We are never ones to ask for handouts, but with this being such a freak and uncontrollable accident, we are grateful for any assistance for the substantial medical bills.
So the lesson…Don’t hold your puke back and drink lots of water!!
