Help a Younger Brother 'Raise the Roof' for his Eldest Brother
My name is John Carkeet. I am the eleventh of twelve, and I need your help putting my eldest brother's home - and life - back together.
My brother, Fany Duites, and his family survived Super Typhoon Rai as it ripped through Central Philippines, killing more than 350 people in its wake. Sadly, their home - which stood in the storm's direct path - was all but obliterated by winds that reached as high 168 miles per hour: equivalent to a Category 5 Hurricane.
My parents and siblings in the United States are doing everything financially possible to provide food, clothing, and shelter to Fany and his family. However, our individual efforts fall far short of putting a new roof over their heads.
We seek close friends, distant relatives, mere acquaintances, and maybe even total strangers to help Fany acquire the tools, supplies, and labor to rebuild his home. Your generous donation will supplement the funds my family continues to send to alleviate Fany's immediate needs to ensure his wife, children and grandchildren live to see the day where they may proudly proclaim that their grateful hearts have a new home.
FAQ:
What is your relationship to Fany?
Fany is my half brother, who is the eldest son of Marina Perez Carkeet. I am child #11 of 12.
Where do you live?
My wife and I live in Bradenton, Florida
Where does Fany and his immediate family live?
Fany lives in Bohol, an island province in the Philippines.
What has your family done to help Fany?
My parents and siblings have sent approximately $1,000 to provide food, clothing, medicine and temporary shelter. We plan to send more in January, though Fany continues to plead for additional funds so he may start rebuilding his home.
Where will our donations go?
100% of every donated dollar will go to tools, labor, and supplies to rebuild Fany's home or another home in or near Bohol. My family and I will cover all fees associated with transferring the funds from GoFundMe to Fany's account. We will also separate our personal donations and those from GoFundme into two distinct categories:
Recover Fund: Food, water, clothing medicine
Rebuild Fund: Tools, supplies, and labor to repair/reconstruct a new home for Fany and his family
