Rebuilding Moti Modern Indian Kitchen (again)

Moti Modern Indian Kitchen is an immigrant-owned Chicago restaurant that opened in 2019. They serve amazing Indian fusion food and were nominated as one of the Top 10 Best New Restaurants in Chicago by Google. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, Moti had closed down temporarily. Just as they were getting ready to reopen, the cafe was broken into, looted and vandalized in May. On August 10th, Moti was once again a victim of the violence in Chicago, and the restaurant was broken into and destroyed.
The owner Jay Patel has put his life savings into this dream and works 20 hours a day to keep Moti running. He is proud to employ hard-working students and people of color, but because of the multiple attacks, he has to shut his restaurant down again. Unfortunately, the insurance payout does not cover the thousands of dollars in damage from both of the attacks, the cash that was stolen, or the loss of revenue as a result of the cafe being closed after the lootings.
Moti was featured by Google Maps in the Small Business Spotlight for offering free meals to first responders and healthcare workers in March. Jay is dedicated to rebuilding and hopes he can do his part to serve the Chicago community and our health care workers once again. Moti has not asked for any money – as someone close to the owner, I’m doing this to help to reopen Moti again. Please help me in making his dream to reconstruct and serve delicious Indian food in Chicago once again!
