Dear Friends, Family, and Kindhearted Strangers,
These words come from a place of immense vulnerability, as we find ourselves grappling with the aftermath of a tragedy that has shaken our beloved Lahaina community in Maui. Our once-thriving Front Street now stands as a haunting reminder of the fire's devastation, leaving many families without homes, basic necessities, jobs, and a sense of security. The path to recovery will be long and arduous, and we find ourselves at a crossroads.
While our apartment miraculously survived the flames, we are far from unscathed. Days without power, water, and food have tested our endurance. With no jobs to return to, the wait for FEMA's financial assistance feels like an eternity. Our future hangs in uncertainty. In the interim, we are faced with the immediate challenge of securing essentials like food and basic supplies, not just for ourselves but also for our neighbors who are also grappling with the aftermath of this tragedy. Many have reached out asking how they could help, and as of right now, this fundraiser is the best way to provide support. Your generosity will not only aid us but will also extend a helping hand to those who are navigating these trying times alongside us.
Mahalo to everyone who’s reached out. Your kindness and love have given us strength on these difficult days. We are truly grateful for the outpouring of compassion from our community.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Pat and Lina
