Rebuilding Lives After Bay Shore Fire
Donation protected
My mother in law, sister in law, brother in law and 4 year old nephew were one of the houses involved in the N. Windsor Ave Bay Shore fire on Thursday morning January 30, 2025. The fast moving fire jumped to the south side of their house as they were evacuating it at 1:30 am. We watched as their family house of 42 years went up in flames and smoke. We are so thankful the four of them got out safely thanks to their quick thinking neighbor who persistently knocked to wake them up and get them to safety. The quick action of the Bay Shore fire department along with all the surrounding fire departments and emergency personnel who not only battled the fire but contained it and helped keep everyone safe is the reason their house still stands but the internal damage is severe and everything in their home needs to be replaced. They only have what they fled their house with and what we have begun to buy to try and keep everything as normal as possible for my nephew. It will be approximately a year before they will be able to move back into their house. Though our family and friends have come together to support them we are setting this up to assist them as they now begin the long journey of starting over. Thank you!
