Rebuilding Livelihood After Storm Devastation

Hello, my name is Steven Horvath -
I would like to start by telling you a little bit about someone I have admired and looked up to my whole life, as far back as I can remember.
This man is one of the most generous kindhearted, understanding, selfless, hardworking men I have ever met. He has been there to help hold me up through a few very tough times in my life. I have seen him lovingly care for his wife of 45 years, his 3 children, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren with love, hope, and faith. I personally cannot recall ever witnessing him ask for help from anyone. That is just the way he is. I know firsthand the kind of person he is because he is my oldest brother Andrew G. Horvath. Most of you know him as “Andy.”
A little background about what Andy has done for a living the past 45+ years, starting back when he was 19 years old. He and his wife have owned a cabinet shop and custom wood-working business originally known as H&H Cabinets and now Mountain Specialties here on the Georgetown divide. All his children, and most of the grandchildren, many others, including myself have worked for my brother at some point over the years. Andy’s longest-standing employee and business partner is his son Bret, a Navy Gulf War Veteran and equally talented Craftsman. Andy and Bret have made dental and medical cabinets, custom residential cabinets and custom carvings, musical instruments and much more. Andy is truly a gifted Craftsman.

On February 28th at about 8:00 pm, my brother Andy’s 6,000 square foot shop, and the shop next door located at the Eaton Road commercial complex in Georgetown CA had a catastrophic structural failure due to the recent storms and enormous amounts of heavy snow on the roof here in Northern California. As you can see in the pictures, the roof collapse has caused unsafe access and widespread damage to all equipment and materials within the shop, as well as the jobs that were in progress. This is a devastating financial blow to Andy and Bret as this is their primary source of livelihood for their families. My brother’s health isn’t what it used to be, but he is a stoic man and tries to never complain. The landlord/owners do not live in the area and are limited in ways to help. I am so thankful that no one was in any of the shops that evening as Andy and Bret often work late and this could have turned out much worse.

Please, if you are able to make a donation so we can hire some assistance and try to salvage and replace damaged equipment. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will go a long way in slowly picking up the pieces of the lifelong livelihood my brother and his son have poured their lives into.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and possibly help if you can.

Thank you and God Bless,

Steven F. Horvath
