Rebuilding Life After Myositis Diagnosis

In 2023, I was diagnosed with myositis, an autoimmune disease that changed the course of my life. During my final senior football season, I played through constant muscle aches and pain, determined to hold onto my NFL dream. As my symptoms worsened, I had to stop working out, and the future I had worked so hard for began to slip away. The journey to a diagnosis was long and filled with uncertainty, and by the time I understood what was happening, my life had already changed completely.

Since then, I’ve undergone infusions, muscle biopsies, physical therapy, surgeries, and have sought out myositis specialists to help manage my health. The strong medications I take have brought their own challenges, including weight gain, stress, anxiety, and depression. Certain jobs that required a lot of movement or strength were not possible for me at the time, but my muscles have been improving. Adjusting to this new reality has been incredibly difficult. Through it all, my faith and my family have been my foundation, reminding me that I am never alone, even in the toughest moments.

Looking ahead, I am determined to build a new future. I hope to invest in real estate, start a trucking business, and most importantly, open a wellness center for athletes of all ages. My goal is to help others prepare for whatever life throws at them and to show that no matter what you go through, you can get through it.
