I’m a 60-year-old widow, a mother, a grandmother, a friend, and most of all, a Christian.

I lost my home after suffering illness and losing multiple family members. From that moment onward, I lost focus.

I thank the Lord that immediate shelter was provided in my car along with my emotional support dogs. However,

I am grateful that I did not freeze to death while sleeping in my car. I call this experience a journey of crisis. I must say this was the most humbling moment of my life. I cried out 'Amen' every day I survived!

I had to relocate because affordable rent was impossible. Not to mention,

I have always taken care of myself, my three children, and a grandchild. I worked as a teacher’s assistant in special education. It appears that I’ve always taken care of somebody with no regrets.

I am extremely embarrassed to turn to the public for help. I have never been in such a situation before and would not wish this on my worst enemy.

Unfortunately, as one gets older, life becomes challenging.

Most of us have heard this popular saying, “That could never be me in that situation.”  However, life has a way of teaching one a lesson.  Then I become a student again.  This time is learning to survive.  Yes I am embarrassed for asking for help and this must be the lesson I have to learn in life.

This is my story. I stumbled into a bad situation, and now I am trying to rebuild my life and avoid homelessness and need help.

I am looking forward to rebuilding my life again.
