On the night of July 13th I went out to grab a drink to bring in my birthday at midnight (July 14th). Upon the closure of the venue there was a big group of individuals shooting dice outside of the venue fairly close to where my car was parked. Apparently the dice game went bad.
On my way to the car I ended up getting caught in the middle of a shootout. While no one else was hit, I ended up being shot 3 times.
One went straight through the back of my left knee, destroying all of my nerves to my ankle and foot leaving me with excruciating painful nerve damage in my foot as well as me being unable to move anything from my ankle down. It’s been a month and I’m still unable to move my ankle or foot really at all. Whenever I regain functionality to this part of my body I can then begin learning how to walk again.
One went straight through my right arm, leaving me completely unable to move my right hand and any of my fingers. After a month I’m slowly regaining very little function and having to relearn how to use my hand.
The last bullet entered the top of my right thigh and almost exited at the bottom, but got stuck. All doctors have refused to remove it, so it remains in my leg.
I initially was picked up and sent to St. David’s Round Rock, where they literally only cleaned the wounds then kicked me out a few hours later. Lady said, this is the trauma unit, it’s 7:30am, you should’ve been out of by 6:30am. They called an uber for me and told me I had 5 minutes to get down to it and if I were to miss it that they weren’t going to call me another one. Keep in mind this is a few hours after I was shot multiple times. So I forced myself up, light headed, ready to vomit, in pain and all just so I wouldn’t miss the uber smh. They said if no one would be home to receive me that they would send to some type of assist living facility or something along those lines. Luckily I had a friend who was able to meet me at my house. He grabbed a desk chair from my office, I crawled into and both he and the uber driver lifted me through the front door of my home and pushed me to my bedroom where I ultimately had to wait for my family to travel for days to get to me. I was prescribed medication that did not work at all in minimizing my pain.
Days later I then went St. David’s South Austin, in hopes of better care and hopefully some meds that would help with the excruciating nerve pain. Under their care I stopped breathing TWICE and had to be brought back. After being stabilized, having my wounds cleaned once more and being talked to disrespectfully by the lead doctor and having to beg for different medication to address the pain, again I was released. This visit was all in a matter of 3 or 4 hours.
After that I again back home and being taken care of by family who came to town. By the end of the week I hadn’t made any progress and my family had to return to their lives. So instead of leaving me rot in bed my family rented a car and put me in the backseat to drive 17 hours back to Chicago while in pain to help take care of me and acquire better healthcare opportunities.
Since returning to Chicago I’ve been admitted in 2 different hospitals for at least 2 weeks time and I’ve been on Fentanyl, morphine, Ketamine, Lidocaine, Oxy, Hydrocodone, Gabapentin and at least a dozen more drugs and NONE of them have helped with the pain unfortunately.
As of now I am home consuming meds nonstop that DO NOT WORK! I’ve been in constant excruciating pain for a month straight and I’m praying everyday for some form of relief. As I average 30 minutes to an hour of sleep regularly and a few hours on a good day. I won’t go into much detail about the constant episodes of PTSD that I experience. That’s another battle I have to fight.
I’ve made this page as I’ve been requested to by many, as well as being due to my lack of medical insurance and being unable to work and on unpaid medical leave. With that being the case in addition to being in and out of 4 hospitals for now, I have a mountain of debt that’s building against me.
With that being said, any donations made will be greatly appreciated and go towards medical expenses, bills, equipment and ultimately me getting back on my feet and returning to some sense of normalcy.
Thank you in advance! Love and appreciation
