Rebuilding Life: A Prosthetic Arm for a Father of 9

I never imagined I would be here, asking for help like this—but life has a way of humbling you and reshaping everything you thought you knew.

I’m a father of eight children. Family has always been my foundation, but I went through a period where I lost sight of that completely. After the devastating loss of one of my children at just 8 years old—only two months after losing my younger brother—I fell into a deep depression. That pain led me down a path of addiction, homelessness, and isolation from the people who loved me most.

During that time, I lost my sense of self-worth. I was living on the streets, struggling just to get through each day. Eventually, I was introduced to IV drug use, and my health declined rapidly. What started as addiction turned into something much worse—a severe infection in my arm that destroyed tissue and bone.

Even then, I wasn’t ready to accept help. Addiction had such a hold on my mindset that I was willing to keep living like that, even as my condition got worse. But I will never forget my son’s voice, begging me to get help. That moment changed everything.

I went to the emergency room, and not long after, I had to have my arm amputated.

That could have been the end of my story—but it wasn’t.

Since that day, I’ve committed myself to change. I’ve maintained my sobriety, reconnected with my family, and found stability in a healthier living environment. It hasn’t been easy. Every day has required strength, faith, and determination. Through prayer, the support of my family, and a renewed sense of purpose, I’ve been rebuilding my life step by step.

Now, I’m working toward the next chapter: regaining independence.

Living with one arm presents challenges in nearly every part of daily life—from basic tasks to finding stable employment. While I do my best to adapt, I’m often overlooked or doubted because of my physical limitations.

A prosthetic bionic arm would give me more than functionality—it would give me opportunity. It would allow me to work more effectively, provide for my children, and continue moving forward with dignity and confidence.

I’m not asking for a handout. I’m asking for a chance.

If you’re able to support, in any amount, you’re not just helping me get a prosthetic—you’re helping me continue a journey of recovery, responsibility, and rebuilding a life for myself and my family.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for being part of my second chance.
