Rebuilding Hope: Terlaje Family Fire Fund

Donation protected
I'm creating this GoFundMe account for my daughter, Alyssa, and her beautiful family, who suffered a massive fire loss in the early morning of Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

It's heartbreaking to visualize the look my daughter Alyssa wore when I answered her FaceTime call in the early hours of June 6th. Her face was full of tears and distress. My thoughts raced as she tried to form the words, and my mind filled with possibilities. Perhaps something happened to my son-in-law, Kyle. He has been working long days at his construction job. Kyle and Alyssa are expecting their 3rd child on July 2nd. One might think her call was to tell me, "Mom, it's time; we are on our way to the hospital," but that wasn't the case. She was frantic, "MOM, MOM, OUR HOUSE IS ON FIRE! MOM! OUR HOUSE IS ON FIRE, WE CAN'T STOP IT!" her face was full of terror, with tears running down her face.

Two homes went up in flames in Marysville early on June 6th. One of the homes was the residence of Kyle and Alyssa. The cause of the house fire is still under investigation, but at 1:06 am, a neighbor across the street captured footage of sparks outside the neighbor's home where the fire started. Quickly and fiercely, the fire spread to Kyle and Alyssa's house, and within minutes both structures were engulfed in flames. Snohomish County Fire Inspector Aaron Parker is assigned to the investigation. Though no confirmation has been made, news reports suggest the fire department suspects a possible underground gas leak to be the culprit. Cascade Natural Gas has not yet released a statement at this time.

Alyssa had a contraction that woke her from sleep on the night of the fire. Opening her eyes, she noticed the light of the fire and could smell smoke. Frantic, she awoke her husband and they rushed into my 18-month old granddaughter's room, only to find flames already licking up the bedroom window near her crib. Together, they ran to collect my three-year-old granddaughter's from her room and their dog, Autumn, from her kennel downstairs. Amid all this chaos, they managed to call 911 around 1:18 am, only 12 minutes from the initial sparks captured on camera; the raging fire took their homes but, by the Grace of God, didn't take my family. They hold out hope that their cat, Salem, escaped the blaze, but she has still not been found.

This event has been very traumatic for all of them. They have two beautiful girls and a baby boy on the way. The mortgage still must be paid and they have no means of transportation. Alyssa is due to have her baby any day, both Alyssa and my oldest granddaughter are dealing with severe post-traumatic stress, and they lost their home - a true labor of love. In a matter of 12 minutes, nearly two years of hard work went up in smoke. The inferno steals the stage, but there is still so much going on behind the scenes.

You can help by donating funds to this cause to help them during this difficult time of rebuilding and ensuring accountability from the investigation. All funds will go directly to Kyle and Alyssa to rebuild their life. Kyle, Alyssa, and the immediate family are so incredibly grateful for all the support and love they have received from the community thus far.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, compassion, and generosity. God Bless.

With deep appreciation & love,
Bridget
