Rebuilding Hope: Support Ahmed and His Family

Donation protected
"Hello friends,

My name is Ahmed Jarbo, I am a nurse and a photographer from Gaza. I spent the past year volunteering at a medical point, providing treatments and nursing care, and documenting the atrocities and suffering around me. My family and I have endured unimaginable hardship and turmoil and our lives were turned upside down, leaving us in a constant state of fear and uncertainty.

Through my lens, I captured the destruction and resilience of the people in Gaza, hoping to shed light on our struggles and draw attention to our catastrophe. Despite all these challenges, I remain determined to pursue my dream of continuing my education. I have been accepted to study abroad, and once the Rafah crossing is open, I plan to seize this opportunity to build a better future for myself and my family.

I have lost my home and currently live in a tent in Khan Younis, and I am in desperate need of your support to make this dream a reality. Your assistance will enable me to continue my education and contribute to a brighter future for Gaza.

Your donation can provide essential support for my family and I. The funds will be used to cover a range of critical needs:
  • 1. Personal Expenses: Without stable incomes, we are struggling to meet our daily personal expenses.
  • 2. Clothing and Bedding: Having left everything behind during forced displacement, we urgently need funds to purchase clothing and bedding.
  • 3. Providing Shelter and Rebuilding Our Home: Funds will help us rebuild our home which we lost last year.
  • 4. Supporting Evacuation and Secure Relocation Efforts: Due to the instability of the situation, I will need to evacuate:
  • Transit Costs: Financial support is needed for the transit from Gaza to the Rafah crossing. To cross the Rafah Gaza-Egypt border, it is necessary to have our name listed on the Crossing List (paid permit). Coordinators in Egypt, who have the authority to add names to this list, are currently demanding between $5,000 and $8,000 per person.
  • Short-Term Accommodation: Renting an apartment in Egypt for a short period is crucial to plan my next steps.
  • Travel Tickets and Accommodation Costs: Funds are necessary for travel tickets and other accommodation expenses as we seek a safer and more stable environment.

  • 5. Medical Treatment: My father and grandmother need urgent medical care. The funds will cover their medical expenses, including treatment and medications from Egypt.
  • 6. Education Fee: The Ministry of Education has asked me to pay $1,200 to obtain my diploma, which is essential for my future opportunities.
  • 7. Starting Over: Additional support is needed for basic expenses to help us restart our lives."

The people running this campaign are Thomas Schallhart, living in Berlin, and Shams Al-Beshawi, living in Amman. We have been in touch with Ahmed over the past months and have become friends. We are doing this campaign in his name, as he is unable to collect money through GoFundMe from within Gaza.

All donated money will be sent to Thomas’ bank account in Germany. He will then do a direct bank account transfer to Shams' bank account in Jordan. She will then find a way to get the money to Ahmed in Gaza.
