I wanted to share Eunice’s story with you – she recently lost everything in a devastating fire and now needs our help to rebuild her life.
My name is Mary Ndungu and I am her mom. In early March, my daughter’s rental unit caught fire. She left for work and received a phone call from her landlord. An electrical fire burned for an hour before her landlord notified the fire department, who then came to extinguish the fire. She was unable to leave work early, and upon returning home from her shift found she found that everything she owned was either burned, covered in soot, waterlogged or damaged by smoke.
While we are so thankful she and everyone around her are safe, Eunice was left with only the backpack she brought to work with her that day and the clothes on her back, and she had to navigate finding a place to stay that night because the property was deemed unlivable, and both water and power were turned off. With help from her community, Eunice is now resettled and her immediate needs for shelter are met. However, this loss is still a huge emotional, mental, and financial burden. Eunice says that the things she will miss the most are her bed and her book collection.
I am setting an initial fundraising goal of $3000 to help her begin to recover. These funds will help her rebuild from this loss. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a real difference for her during this tough time. If you can, please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser with others. Thank you so much for your kindness!
