We are Gerry and Marie-Claire Thauvette.

When the hurricane tore through Jamaica, our dear friend whom we met only a few weeks ago during our Couples Retreat found himself trapped inside his home with his mother and his young son. He is a devoted single dad who has always done everything he can to care for his family, but this storm changed everything.

The hurricane ripped through his house, shattering every window and tearing off the siding. The wind and rain poured in, leaving his home exposed and unsafe. With tourism shut down, he can’t return to his job until the island begins to recover. Even when he’s working, he earns so little that it’s hard to provide enough food for his family. Right now they are surviving on canned food with the little money we were able to send, and they truly need help just to eat and get by day to day.

He has always worked hard and kept his faith through every challenge. He has been raising his seven-year-old son with love and devotion while also caring for his mother, who helps look after his little boy when he works. But now they have nothing left. They are struggling to rebuild their home, eat, to stay safe, and to find peace again.

I am asking from my heart for help. Let us come together to give him a fresh start and turn this disaster into a story of love and hope. Every dollar will go directly toward food, rebuilding their home, and helping him stand on his feet again.

Let this be the moment when kindness outweighed destruction, a time he can one day look back on and say that out of the storm came new light, new love, and a better life for his family.
