Hello, my name is Valerie. As a veteran, I've faced challenges, but nothing prepared us for the devastation of our family home catching fire on Thursday morning, April 25. Thankfully, my quick-thinking mother saved us all, but our house was engulfed before firefighters arrived, leaving us with nothing but the clothes on our backs and what little we could carry. It's been heart-wrenching to watch our home, filled with memories, reduced to ashes and burned possessions on the floor.

We're now displaced, unable to return for 6 months to a year as repairs are assessed and completed. We're staying with different family members across Florida, trying to piece our lives back together.
