Rebuilding Hope: Help Sonia Rojas and Her Family

A devastating earthquake in my country Colombia struck and turned my high school friend Sonia Rojas’ life upside down. In just a matter of minutes, she and her family lost everything—their home, belongings, and sense of stability. Everything they had spent years building through hard work and sacrifice was wiped away.

They are now facing the unimaginable—rebuilding their lives from nothing, without basic necessities like shelter, clothing, or food. Though thankfully safe, the emotional and financial toll is immense.

We’re raising funds to help Sonia and her family rebuild with hope, dignity, and the support they need, to move forward, because recovering from natural disasters in Colombia can be incredibly challenging—especially since support for families after events like this is very limited.

Un devastador terremoto en mi país, Colombia, sacudió y cambió por completo la vida de mi amiga de la secundaria, Sonia Rojas. En cuestión de minutos, ella y su familia perdieron todo: su hogar, sus pertenencias y su sentido de estabilidad. Todo lo que habían construido durante años con esfuerzo y sacrificio fue borrado.

Ahora enfrentan lo inimaginable: reconstruir sus vidas desde cero, sin necesidades básicas como refugio, ropa o comida. Aunque afortunadamente están a salvo, el impacto emocional y económico es inmenso.

Estamos recaudando fondos para ayudar a Sonia y su familia a reconstruir con esperanza, dignidad y el apoyo que necesitan para salir adelante, porque recuperarse de desastres naturales en Colombia puede ser increíblemente difícil, especialmente porque el apoyo a las familias después de eventos como este es muy limitado.
