Rebuilding Hope for the Hughes Family After House Fire

What Happened?
On the night of January 24th, just before the winter ice storm moved in, the Hughes family experienced something no family should ever have to face. A fire broke out in their home around 10 PM, and within moments, their lives were changed forever.
Hannah, Chris, their sweet 7-year-old daughter Amilee, and their dog Ella all made it out safely which is truly the greatest blessing. But, while their lives were spared, their home and every belonging inside it was completely lost.
They escaped with only the clothes they were wearing and their phones. Their cars were the only physical belongings saved.
They are now staying with family, trying to take the first steps toward rebuilding their lives from nothing.

What They've Lost
The Hughes family has endured more than most could imagine in recent years - including their daughter bravely going through a bone marrow transplant just a few years ago. Through it all, they have remained the kind of family that shows up for everyone around them, always ready to help, always giving more than they have.
Now, in this moment of unimaginable loss, they are the ones who need our help.
They will need to replace nearly everything:
  • Clothing and shoes
  • Bedding, bath linens, and everyday home necessities
  • Furniture, home essentials, and toiletries
  • Food and basic household supplies
  • Items for Ella (her crate, bowls, tough-chew toys, bedding, etc.)
  • School supplies and comfort items for Amilee
  • The countless small things that add up when you’re starting over
Amilee, who loves Barbies, art, makeup, her iPad, Nintendo Switch, and the new bike she just received for Christmas (which has already been replaced thanks to an amazing donor), lost every precious thing. And yet she is trying so hard to be brave in a world that suddenly feels very different.
Hannah also lost deeply sentimental items passed down from her late grandmother, things that can never be replaced.

How We Can Help
Our goal is to raise enough to:
  • Help cover their bills for the next few months
  • Replace essential items lost in the fire
  • Ease the financial burden while they navigate the overwhelming work of rebuilding
  • Give this family space to breathe, heal, and focus on what truly matters
Anything you can give - no matter how big or small - will make a real, immediate difference for this family. Even sharing this link helps more than you know.

The Hughes family is strong, loving, resilient, and grateful. They have survived the unimaginable, and now, with the help of the community that loves them, they can start rebuilding their life piece by piece.

If you'd prefer to send money through other programs that will go directly to Hannah and her family without any fees, please reach out to me, Brittany O'Shields, through the contact link on this page.

Thank you for showing this beautiful family that they are not alone.
