Rebuilding Hope for My Sister & Andy After the Flood

Hello everyone! I’m sharing this as a little sister who has looked up to her big sister my whole life. She’s been my protector, my cheerleader, and my safe place through life’s many ups and downs— and right now, her and her fiance Andy are facing the hardest chapter of their lives. They need love, hope, and help from all of us.

Just last week, their home with was was robbed. This past weekend, the historic Milwaukee flood tore through their neighborhood in the middle of the night. Even as the water began to rise, her first thought was to call her neighbors and warn them. Minutes later, the water was up to their waists.

The flood took and ruined practically everything — their home, both of their cars, furniture, appliances, clothes, shoes, important documents, precious family mementos, Andy’s lifetime collection of sports memorabilia, everything. In one night, a lifetime of memories and stability washed away. Unfortunately, their insurance isn’t covering any of the damage from the flood, which makes this tragedy even harder to bear. Losing everything they worked so hard for feels so overwhelming and they are left with almost nothing.

My sister is the most giving, selfless person I know — the kind who would show up for anyone without hesitation. Now, it’s our turn to show up for her and Andy as they face the unthinkable.
