Hello Everyone! I am raising money to help ease the financial burden that this week's historic flooding in East Ridge/Chattanooga, TN, has put on my elderly mother.
Her home was in one of the worst-hit areas. It was positioned near a creek that overflowed, flooding her home, cars, and neighborhood. As the waters came rushing in, there was a time when she was nearly waist-deep in the rising flood. Thankfully, she was able to wade through the floodwaters down the street to safety.
She has helped everyone else her whole life and is now in need of help. She was my grandmother's live-in caregiver for nearly 9 years. She always reached out to those who are typically overlooked in care and compassion. She is a generous giver who freely shares with those in need. Now, it’s our turn to show up for her.
With your help, we can ease this burden by assuring the home she has worked so hard for becomes safe and livable again.
Much of her furniture and personal items are ruined. The sheetrock will need to be replaced to avoid molding. A massive tree fell on her van, barely missing her. The freezer was upended and her food ruined. The damage is severe and is still being assessed.
Unfortunately, her insurance doesn't cover damage from flooding, which makes this tragedy even harder to bear.
I’ve created a GoFundMe to help her rebuild. If you can give, share, or simply send your love and prayers her way, it will mean more than words can express. Thank you for helping me remind her that she is not alone.
