Rebuilding Hope for Lamar's Resilient Community

My name is Richard Rempo and I live in the Lamar section of Jonesborough, Tennessee. As the owner of Trend Security Services based here in Jonesborough and a member of the community, I am impressed to help out my fellow neighbors and community members who desperately need our help.

In the wake of the tropical storm on September 27, 2024, Northeast Tennessee has experienced historical flooding and damage like nothing seen in many decades. From homes to farms to bridges and infrastructure, the Lamar community needs our help.

Along the Nolichucky, our neighbors' homes have been swept away or submerged under water and countless members of our community have been stranded without food, water, clothes, or their homes to go back to.

Water treatment plants, cell towers, and power are down, and we are unsure how many days, weeks, or months this will take to be restored. We are asking for your help to rebuild our community and although this will take years, I know we can do it. Seeing how much everyone has banded together to help those less fortunate, I plan to coordinate getting these funds to the Lamar Mercy Fund that will go to residents of Lamar who have been displaced and affected by this devastating disaster.

Anything will help, no matter how large or small of a donation, and all of the funds raised will be given to the Lamar Mercy Fund which is ran by our elementary school, Lamar Elementary.

The Lamar Mercy Fund was set up to assist families of the Lamar Elementary School students. These funds will be distributed to those families who have lost their homes, and this fund is managed by our Principal, Mr. Merriman. The policy of the fund is that funds will benefit our Lamar families in rebuilding their homes and purchasing items that need to be replaced. All monies are distributed based on need and will be dispersed to the families of children who attend Lamar Elementary in most need and all fund distribution is approved by the school district.
