Yesterday our Grandma Hope lost everything in a devastating house fire. The East Side home she shared with our late grandfather and where our father also lived before he passed is completely destroyed. It’s heartbreaking to see a lifetime of memories, keepsakes, and family history vanish in an instant.
We are so incredibly thankful that everyone made it out safely. The Red Cross has been helping her find temporary housing, and for now, her oldest granddaughter has taken her in while we work on finding her a new place to live. Still, she needs help rebuilding from the ground up with clothing, furniture, essentials, and support toward a new apartment.
We’ve been deeply moved by the kindness of her neighbors who immediately stepped in during the fire, offering blankets, shoes, and a place to rest. Their compassion reminded us that even in tragedy, community and love make all the difference. We also sincerely appreciate the donations immediately received from my coworkers at Hodgson Russ, who, overnight, had coats, shoes, purses and even wrapped gifts.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will go directly to our grandmother to help her start fresh and feel at home again.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, your kindness, and your prayers. It truly takes a village, and we’re so grateful for ours. ❤️
