On August 28th, 2025, 17-year-old Elmer’s life changed forever. What began as a simple ride on his motorcycle to buy internet access so his little sister could finish her homework ended in tragedy when a drunk driver crashed into him and sped away, costing Elmer his leg and the future he had worked so hard to build.

Elmer has always dreamed of becoming an electrician — a goal rooted in his desire to create a stable, hardworking life for himself and his family living in rural Guatemala. He is one of six children, the only boy among five sisters who adore him, and he is raised by a single father who does everything he can to keep the family together. Money has always been tight, but this devastating accident has pushed them far beyond anything they could have imagined.

Now Elmer faces months of surgeries, painful rehabilitation, and the long journey of learning to walk again with a prosthetic leg — a cost the family simply cannot afford. His father is fighting with everything he has, but the financial burden is overwhelming.
