Rebuilding Hope After Oklahoma Wildfire
Donation protected
Hi, we are the Valentines. We live in rural Oklahoma and have spent two years living in our rv and a small cabin we built, while we cleared the land. Yesterday in the wind, an arcing power line sparked over some hay bails across the road from us. One minute we smell smoke, the next minute we see a huge wall of flames coming at us. The winds were at least 70 mph. The fire came quick, and totaled our 26 ft. RV and got the back corner of our cabin,. It continued on to burn a 16ft car trailer loaded with professional equipment from a cabinet shop . Then burnt a RV we we used to store large tubs of more of our personal belongings that wouldn't fit in our little cabin. The big loss was our complete 50ft × 90ft new metal building that was going to be our house and garage. Some of these can be replaced, but our poor trees, that will take some time. We feel very grateful that we are safe and our precious animals are all safe. Linda's clothes were all saved along, with what was in the one building that was saved. We feel very blessed to have some things make it through the fire.
There are a lot of folks here in Oklahoma in the same situation, we would just appreciate even the smallest gift to rebuild. Its a very odd feeling to be on this end of a disaster. Thank you!
