Today, I’m Rama, I stand before you to share the inspiring journey of my sister's children, Saleh (4.5 years) and Bassant (8 years) . Saleh, a young hero, starts his mornings in their toy room, weaving tales of superhero adventures with his beloved toys. Meanwhile, my little princess, Basant, dreams of becoming a model, spending her days honing her skills in walking the runway and expressing her creativity through painting and coloring.
Their story began with excitement as they embarked on a new academic year, filled with the joy of starting school and the anticipation of moving into their new home.
After years of hard work and dreaming alongside their parents, they finally found themselves in a place they could call their own—a haven of love and safety. But on October 7, 2023, their world was shattered by the brutal bombing of their home in Gaza's Rimal Area during the conflict with Israel.
In an instant, everything they had worked for, their dreams and aspirations, were reduced to rubble. Left with nothing but the clothes on their backs, Saleh and Basant's childhood innocence was replaced by fear and uncertainty. Their once vibrant lives were now overshadowed by the harsh reality of war, leaving them without beds, toys, or even enough food to eat.
My sister, Eng. Majd (32 years) , and her husband, Mohammed Alghazali(32 years), are both highly educated individuals who have worked tirelessly to provide for their family. Despite their backgrounds, they now find themselves homeless, forced to evacuate multiple times during the conflict. Currently, they are living in temporary accommodation, paying a significant sum each month just to ensure their children's safety.
Their home, a place filled with cherished memories and dreams, was destroyed in the bombing, forcing them to seek refuge in shelters and ultimately flee to the southern region of Rafah. They now cling to the hope of leaving Gaza behind and starting anew, but the financial burden of relocation weighs heavily upon them.
As their only hope for a better future, I have taken on the responsibility of raising funds to help them escape the confines of Gaza and secure passage to Canada. Your support will not only provide them with the means to leave but also ensure that they can rebuild their lives without delay.
