Hi to everyone, and thank you for reading. Our names are Libby Prohaska and Rachel Ward, and we are the granddaughters of Nancy Guldenbecker, who lives in Fort Myers, Florida. We have made this GoFundMe for our grandma as her home has suffered total devastation from Hurricane Ian, like most of SWFL. We are so saddened for the many people who have lost their homes, and thank God we are not one of the families who have lost a life. We pray for all of those affected.
- Our Grandma's home is a mobile home; she did not have homeowners insurance and is not a candidate for FEMA relief. Hence, she is in a very vulnerable, terrifying situation. She receives social security and worked part-time at the office in her community before the disaster, but her job is no longer as the power lines to her community are destroyed, and her office needs to be rebuilt. Her home has suffered great structural damage and flooding to the point that everything inside was floating. It is unsafe and unlivable. Unfortunately, no amount of money can replace lifelong photos and keepsakes, but it can replace necessities, clothing, furniture, appliances, etc. We are unsure if the home can even be repaired and believe it may need to be entirely replaced.
- At this time, it is too dangerous to assess damage throughout her home as the floors are not safe to walk on after being softened from the severe flooding. We do know almost nothing is salvageable.
- If you know our Grandma, you love her. You know she is one of the most kind-hearted, giving, loving, and compassionate people on this planet. You can probably share a story about a time when she did something nice for you without expecting anything in return. She truly is one of a kind.
- We realize so many are in a horrible situation after the devastation of Hurricane Ian, so we are first and foremost asking for your prayers as so many begin to navigate the aftermath of this horrific event.
- We also ask for donations to help rebuild our Grandma's home, a sanctuary she has made into a safe haven for us, our family, and our friends. She has given so much her entire life, and we can't imagine her not living the rest of her life in the home she deserves.
- Absolutely anything is appreciated and will make a difference.
- She does not know about this fundraiser. At first, she may be mad at us because she says, "she has her life and her family, and that's all she needs," but sometimes, in life, you have to ask for help. This is one of those times.
- There are no words to express our gratitude for your generosity during this
- time. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
