On June 22, 2020 Full Circle Jujitsu suffered break-in, theft and arson. We had just finished moving into our new space after two years next door. Construction had finished on our new platform floor. We were woken at 7:30 AM by the fire department informing
us the sprinklers had been setoff due to a fire being set after a break-in. The theft consisted of all our power tools and computers and cameras. The damage done by fire and water destroyed most of our other office items including all our framed pictures, diplomas, and a several irreplaceable items.
Full Circle Jujitsu started working in the North Phoenix community in 2012. Our founder, Alessandro Ashanti has been teaching martial arts to many different communities since 1989. His work has always been one of building a better world one student at a time. The main focus of instruction has always been self defense, self confidence and bettering one’s life. Our school on Thunderbird Rd has been the biggest and most successful dojo ever run in Full Circle Jujitsu. We have managed to survive COVID-19 by moving our classes online. While many schools have folded we managed to stay afloat and still able to pay our bills.
The damage caused by this fire and the reconstruction needed will be in excess of $30k. This threatens the school to shut down permanently in the current environment we live in. All proceeds will go to replacing damaged items and to contractors fixing the studio. Any and all excess will go to fund students who can’t pay due to lack of work or financial crisis.
