Hi, my name is sheena salbedo , and I am asking for help for my mom, Elizabeth, and my brother, Christopher, who just went through something truly devastating. On Friday, March 20th at around 12:45 in the morning, while they were peacefully asleep in their home in Otake Camp, their lives changed in an instant. Without warning, floodwaters began rushing into their home, quickly filling it and leaving them with little to no time to react. What started as a normal night turned into a terrifying fight for survival.
As the water kept rising, they were trapped and had to be rescued by first responders, along with the help of Dexter Ragragola and Robyn Smith. In the middle of the darkness, fear, and chaos, they were thankfully able to get out safely but everything they owned was left behind and destroyed. In just a matter of minutes, they lost everything they had worked so hard for over the years.
The flood didn’t just damage their home it took their entire life with it. They lost all of their clothes, their medications, important documents, and every personal belonging that meant something to them. Things that can never truly be replaced. To make matters even more heartbreaking, their house was physically pushed downward toward the river by the force of the water. If it weren’t for a tree stopping the house from going any further, the outcome could have been even more tragic, and it’s terrifying to even think about what could have happened.
Now, they are left with nothing. No home to return to, no belongings to gather, and no sense of stability. They are completely displaced and are no longer able to stay in Otake. Everything familiar to them is gone, and they are now faced with the overwhelming reality of starting over from scratch. The emotional toll of this loss has been incredibly heavy on both of them, and it’s been heartbreaking to see them go through something like this.
I am starting this GoFundMe to try and help my mom, Elizabeth, and my brother, Christopher, rebuild their lives after this unimaginable loss. The funds will go toward replacing basic necessities like clothing, medications, important items, and helping them secure a new place to live. Right now, even the smallest things are a struggle, and any amount of support would truly make a difference.
If you are able to donate, no matter how small, it would mean more than words can express. And if you’re not able to give, simply sharing this page would help us reach others who might be able to help. We are so grateful that they made it out alive, but now they need support to begin again.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read their story, and for any kindness, prayers, or support you can give during this incredibly difficult time. It truly means everything to our family.
