Bon Tofu & Grill is a new family run Korean restaurant located in Fountain Valley, California. On Friday, July 31, 2020 around 11:20 PM, a full-sized truck or SUV aggressively crashed into the restaurant and destroyed everything inside the dining hall. Luckily, my father left the restaurant a mere 20 minutes before the incident. Our family found out about this tragedy the next morning, and we got so shocked that our hearts nearly broke. We found out that our restaurant didn’t have any business insurance and was told that if the driver’s insurance had limited amount of liability coverage on her insurance, we may have to pay all the rest of the rebuilding costs by ourselves.

On the following day, on Saturday, most car insurance services were closed, and we had no choice but to clean all the damage debris ourselves. Right now, we are in need of great financial support to repair the glass windows, furniture (including in-door and outdoor patio for dine-outs), side doors, urgent repairs for the pillars that are barely holding the ceiling, and bathroom walls. As the COVID-19 pandemic had already cut our sales into half, we are backed into a situation to use our emergency savings for the damage repairs that the car tragedy brought to us.

Right now, we ask for financial support to continue running Bon Tofu & Grill during this distressing time. Any amount of donation would be greatly appreciated.

오픈한지 채 2달도 안된 저희 부모님 식당인데 밤에 이런 사태가 벌어져서... 정말 울고 싶네요 ㅠㅠ. 경찰은 2~3주 정도 기다려야 가해자가 누군지 그리고 가해자 보험 정보를 알 수 있다고 해서 너무 어이없고 답답해요. 적어도 누가 그랬는지 바로 알려주어야 하는게 아닌가요...? 안그래도 코로나 때문에 식당 운영이 어려웠는데 엎친데 엎은 격으로 비스니스 보험도 없어서 가해자 보험으로 문제를 해결해야 하는데 그렇게 되면 건물주랑 피해 보상을 나누어야 한다네요... ㅠㅠ. 가해자 보험이 안좋으면 대부분 피해 보상이 건물 고치는데 들어가고 나머지는 저희가 부담해야 한다는게 현실이고 믿겨지지가 않네요 ㅠㅠ.
