Dear Friends and Supporters,
We are a collective of residents from the Parotee, Spice Grove and adjoining communities in Black River, Jamaica, one of the areas most severely affected by the catastrophic Category 5 Hurricane Melissa. The devastation here is beyond words. Homes and infrastructure have been destroyed, leaving families without shelter, electricity, or clean water.
Although we are beginning to receive some food and water aid, our greatest challenges now are finding safe temporary shelter, restoring basic services, and preventing disease as we face the massive task of clearing debris — including fallen buildings, animals, and the tragic loss of human life.
We are urgently seeking donations to help us:
Provide temporary housing and shelter materials for displaced families.
Purchase cleaning supplies and medical essentials to prevent illness.
Begin the rebuilding process so that our community can begin to recover and thrive once again.
Your generosity, no matter the amount, will make a real difference in helping the Parotee community survive this disaster. We appreciate your support at this crucial moment in time and gratefully thank you.
On behalf of the residents of Parotee, Spice Grove and neighbouring communities,
Trisha Bartlett and Jennifer Campbell.
