My name is Beth, and my husband is Matt. A little backstory on us: we work hard for the things we have even though we don’t have much, and my husband's car was the only thing he has ever bought for himself. We live in what used to be a gas station renovated into a 1-bedroom shack in Finger, TN.
On Tuesday, January 27th, at 11:56 am, while going outside to start my car and check the driveway to see if I could get out after the huge winter storm we had in Tennessee this past weekend, my carport caved in from the weight of the ice and snow, crushing me and both mine and my husband's vehicles. Physically, I am okay. I have a guardian angel watching me CLOSELY because I shouldn’t be here to tell this story. I have some bruising, a head injury, and some contusions of my c-spine and pelvis. Mentally, however, I am traumatized and suffering some PTSD from this accident. I do have the video from the accident on my husbands Facebook “Matt Keeton” I can’t upload it to GFM. Turn your volume down as my screams are gut wrenching
My car is inoperable, and my husband's is going to require extensive repair to get it back to new again. I am going to require lots of doctor visits with a chiropractor and a therapist. However, we did not have insurance. We were struggling to eat after paying all of our bills with my husband starting a new job right before Christmas. I was 2 days away from putting insurance on both cars, so now I’m asking for help to pay my medical bills and the cost to repair both cars.
We rent our home, and our landlord is telling us she doesn’t have homeowners insurance on our property, and even if she did, they wouldn’t cover “an act of God.” I have pursued legal action against her in this matter.
