Rebuilding Al-Diea Medical Lab in Gaza – Your Support Restores Hope and Life
My name is Diea Othman Khudair, and I am a medical laboratory specialist and the founder of Al-Diea Medical Lab in Gaza, Palestine.
We are facing significant challenges at Al-Diea Medical Lab, but we are determined to rebuild.
Before the war, Al-Diea was one of the largest medical labs in Gaza, operating through three branches and serving thousands of patients. Unfortunately, during the recent war, our first branch was destroyed, and we distributed our efforts across the other two branches, which were later also destroyed. We ended up working in only one branch until it too was destroyed, forcing us to stop operations. Our team endured unimaginable hardships – some were martyred, others injured or displaced. Nevertheless, despite the devastation, we continued to support our people by offering help with the few remaining resources we had.
Today, with the healthcare system on the verge of collapse and hospitals under extreme pressure, the need for functioning medical labs is more urgent than ever. Chronic illnesses such as diabetes, kidney failure, cancer, and anemia are increasing, in addition to widespread infections caused by overcrowding, unsafe drinking water, and harsh living conditions.
I have waited a long time for this difficult war to end. Today, due to the hardships faced by patients, I have decided to begin my journey to restore hope through this campaign on GoFundMe.
I am confident—God willing—that I can revive Al-Diea Medical Lab’s operations and once again provide the essential medical testing services that our people in Gaza urgently need. I know the road ahead will not be easy, and many challenges and much work lie ahead.
But I am not afraid of the future, despite the harsh reality—because I trust that you are by my side.
Rebuilding Plan:
1. Securing a new or restoring an old location
Finding or renovating a site to safely resume operations.
2. Renovation and preparation
Installing electricity, water, flooring, ventilation, and creating a clean, safe environment.
3. Purchasing essential equipment
CBC analyzers, chemistry devices, and sterilization tools.
4. Procuring testing supplies
Reagents, test tubes, syringes, sanitization materials, and protective gear.
5. Providing medical testing services
Offering tests free or at reduced costs for those most in need.
