Fundraising Goal
We’re raising funds to support three sisters of the Iota Beta Chapter of Chi Omega who lost their apartment and all of their belongings in the Olympia Apartment fires on November 7. Because Olympia’s compensation is capped at $750 for total damages, we’re seeking additional support to help them recover.
Our Story
We are the Iota Beta Chapter of Chi Omega at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, organizing this fundraiser on behalf of three chapter members who were directly affected by the fire: Meghan Murphy, Layna Demko, and Tejal Vaghela. All funds will help them replace essential belongings and manage immediate recovery needs.
To ensure transparency and meet donor-protection guidelines, we’re including the following information:
Who we are:
We are members and officers of the Iota Beta Chapter of Chi Omega at UMass Amherst.
Where we’re from:
Our chapter is based in Amherst, Massachusetts, and these students are full-time UMass Amherst undergraduates.
Our relationship to the recipients:
The beneficiaries—Meghan Murphy, Layna Demko, and Tejal Vaghela—are active members of our chapter who lived together in the affected apartment.
GoFundMe Beneficiary:
The listed GoFundMe beneficiary is Meghan Murphy, who was directly impacted by the fire. She will be responsible for distributing all funds evenly between herself, Layna Demko, and Tejal Vaghela.
How funds will be used:
Donations will be used to replace essential items lost in the fire, including clothing, bedding, toiletries, school materials, and other daily-use belongings. Any remaining funds will support short-term living expenses during their transition, such as temporary housing, transportation, and meals.
We understand that all funds must be used exactly as stated and are fully committed to transparency and accountability.
Thank you for your generosity during this difficult time.
