I grew up in a neighborhood where we faced floods every year. I didn’t want to leave Matadero and move to Aduas until September 27, 2011—the night we were on the roof, it was dark and raining, waiting to be drowned. The boat arrived, and we were saved. Walking barefoot in the street, with wet clothes, I never imagined I would go through what flood victims experience, as I’d seen on the news.

However, one of my biggest fears is fire. On December 27, 2025, around 3 pm, it happened. Fortunately, the fire didn't reach our (considered) ancestral house, thanks to the creek that separated it from the flames. This reminded me to be grateful for all my mother's efforts to give us a brighter future so we could also share our blessings with others.

Sadly, my relatives are among the victims of the fire. Nobody was hurt or injured, but left homeless. They have not saved any clothes or belongings. I am seeking help on their behalf. Any donations will be appreciated. Thank you in advance!
