In the early morning hours on January 31st, 2026, a drunk driver hit both of my family's vehicles in our driveway and fled the scene.
At 4:41 am, my husband, teenage daughter, and I were awakened by an explosion in our yard. When my husband looked out our bedroom window, we saw another truck that had landed on our vehicles. I opened the front door to see two transformers snapped in half, a truck on our vehicles, and a man walking towards me in complete darkness. I asked who he was, and he said he had an accident. He then walked into my house. He repeated, “Please don’t be mad, I have insurance,” and was close to my teenage daughter, slurring his words. As I was on the phone with 911, the second transformer exploded into flames. The driver fled the scene on foot without giving any insurance information and leaving my home in total destruction.
My family and I are met with terrible circumstances with needing vehicles. Both of our vehicles were hit with a significant amount of damage to the point we fear they will be totaled out. Our yard has also taken a lot of damage as well from the crash impact. My husband was not able to go to work that night, so he lost a day of pay.
