Hello everyone, my name is Tamlyn and I was part of a fire that took building 8 at Dobson Glen. I lost everything I own to this fire and believe my two cats, Smokey and Batch, are deceased inside the building.
This all happened when I woke up at 2 am to hear screams someone could only hear from their worst nightmares. I got dressed and ran downstairs and saw the family of six next to me completely burned and trying to get everybody out of the building. The mom looked at me and yelled, “Please hold my baby.” I grabbed the six-month-old in my arms, watching the rest of the family scream in pain. What I didn’t know was that there was glass all over the ground, and the mom seemed to step on the most.
My partner, Tyler, was calling the fire department while I tried shuffling the family to the end of the parking lot. I turned around to see the house next to mine completely engulfed in fire, and each window slowly popped, shooting glass everywhere. While holding the small child, I noticed that her whole head was covered in bloody burns. There were pieces of flesh and blood scattered everywhere. The family were all exposed to the fire, all missing hair and skin. All I could do was watch the house go down in flames, existing next to these people in need of urgent care. Eventually, cops and fire departments came to take them safely away.
The rest of the night was a blur, witnessing my house begin catching fire slowly as well. I kept telling everyone my cats were inside, but of course, the situation was too much for everyone. I left the premises covered in the smell of burnt flesh and was taken to my mom’s later that night. I again lost everything I’ve ever had. I lost my paintings, my instruments, my furniture, and most important to me, my long-deceased dad’s guitar.
I have some insurance to cover the big things, but this donation goes to me and my partner for clothes, necessities, and to get our car keys replaced. I greatly appreciate every donation.
