The Aspen Acres Fire has forever changed our family’s lives.

In a matter of hours, Jason and Lysa Willis lost three homes that represented generations of memories, hard work, and family history.

One was their peaceful cabin on Squirrel Creek a place where family gathered to escape, celebrate, and make lifelong memories. Another was the home their daughter, Layla, was living in as she built her future. The third was Jason’s childhood home, filled with decades of memories and an irreplaceable connection to his family’s past.

To make matters even more heartbreaking, these homes were uninsurable and served as their retirement and nest egg. Like many families in high-risk wildfire areas, affordable homeowners insurance simply wasn’t an option, leaving them with no coverage when everything was lost.

As if losing three homes wasn’t enough, Jason and Lysa have also been forced to evacuate their primary residence in Colorado City, leaving them displaced and uncertain about what comes next.

While buildings can be rebuilt, so many of the things lost can never be replaced, family keepsakes, photographs, heirlooms, and the places where countless memories were made.
