Hello everyone,
My name is Kate, and I never imagined I’d be writing this.
On a random day, my 5-year-old daughter and I were sleeping in our car near Hunt, Texas. It wasn’t ideal, but we were making it work. I’d lost hours at work, and we were doing our best to stay safe and warm with what little we had. Then the water came.
It happened fast—water rising around us in the dark, sweeping through everything in its path. We scrambled out of the car, wading through mud, clutching each other in terror. We lost almost everything we had. Clothes, supplies, my daughter’s favorite doll—all gone in moments.
We’ve been staying at a church in Kerrville ever since. The staff here are kind, but it’s temporary. What my daughter needs is stability: dry clothes, a warm bed, a safe place to sleep. What I need is just enough support to rebuild—piece by piece.
I’m asking for help to:
• Cover short-term housing costs as we transition out of shelter
• Replace basic essentials: food, clothes, hygiene items, and school supplies for my daughter
• Help me find work again and get back on our feet
Every donation, share, and prayer means the world to us right now. My daughter keeps asking when we’re going “home” again. I don’t have an answer yet—but with your support, I know we can build one.
Thank you for reading and standing with us in this storm.
With gratitude,
Kate & Mia
