Hello!

My name is Jessy and my sisters (Tracy and Cory) created this Gofundme for our stepdad, Butch Daley, and our little sister Miss V, after the devastating flooding that hit Sudbury this spring.

He has been a constant source of love, support, and strength in our lives for many years. Alongside rebuilding after the loss of our mom, he is also the primary caregiver for our teenage little sister, who is developmentally delayed and depends on the stability and safety of their home every day.

Watching him lose so much of the home he and our mom built together has been heartbreaking. We know how hard he has worked, not just to build this home, but to hold onto the life and memories attached to it after losing our mom.

We are hoping to ease even a small part of the financial burden he is now facing and help him begin rebuilding what was lost.

As most of you know, in April, Sudbury was hit with historic flooding that devastated countless homes and families, including our stepdad’s.

More than a decade ago, our mom and stepdad bought a piece of land with a dream: to build a peaceful home where they could eventually retire together. Over the years, our stepdad poured his heart, time, and savings into turning that property into something truly special. Every improvement, every repair, every detail was built with love and hard work.

After my mom passed away, he continued working on the home they dreamed of together. It became more than just a house it became a connection to her, to their future, and to the life they had planned.

Because the property is located in a flood plain, flooding was always something he prepared for carefully. But this year’s flooding was unlike anything anyone could have expected. The water rose high enough to enter the home itself, destroying insulation, electrical systems, appliances, furniture, walls, and much of what he spent years building and protecting.

To make matters worse, there is no insurance coverage available due to the flood plain designation, and there has been no financial relief provided through the city. He is now facing overwhelming cleanup and rebuilding costs entirely on his own.

Anyone who knows my stepdad knows how hardworking, resilient, and selfless he is. Asking for help does not come naturally to him, but the scale of this loss is simply too great to manage alone.

We are raising funds to help with:

• Replacing insulation and electrical systems

• Restoring essential appliances and furniture

• Repairing the home so it is safe and livable again

• Helping preserve the home he and my mom spent years creating together
