Rebuilding After Loss: A Journey of Strength, Survival, and Hope.
Hi, my name is William Mera, and I am reaching out to you today with vulnerability and hope as I navigate one of the most challenging chapters of my life.
At 60, I find myself at a crossroads—after spending 30 years building a career in fashion design, followed by learning interior and landscape design, I’ve always been independent and proud of my ability to reinvent myself. I’ve had a wonderful life and career, and I believe in the power of hard work and focus. I feel blessed to have been able to achieve so much in this country, and my goal is to continue giving back by creating businesses that help other creative individuals and uplift my community.
However, after a devastating divorce in 2023, everything I had worked for was taken from me. Between my ex-husband and legal costs, I was left with nothing but bills. My battle with depression and CPTSD after enduring 30 years of narcissistic abuse has only made the situation more difficult. I now find myself at a point in life where I have nothing left—not even a safe place to call home. I’ve gone from being completely independent to sleeping in a dark basement or in my car. Without help, I face the very real prospect of homelessness.
Despite these overwhelming challenges, I am determined to rise again. I’m teaching myself new skills, such as web design and social media marketing, to stay marketable and relevant in today’s world. My businesses under Grupo Mera Rojas, which focus on design, creativity, and community empowerment, are my way forward. But I need help to get there.
Right now, I am simply asking for enough support to secure a small, affordable apartment—a place where I can find shelter and a space to work from, so I can start rebuilding my future. Your donations will provide me with the stability I need to get back on my feet and regain my financial footing. Every contribution—no matter how small—will bring me one step closer to having a home, a place of safety, and a fresh start.
As a token of my appreciation, I would like to offer contributors free access to my upcoming retail site, where you will find well-designed, high-quality products at great prices. This is a small way for me to give back to the people who are helping me get through this difficult time and support my vision for a better future.
Additionally, I am starting a blog to raise awareness about narcissism and its impact on society, especially from the perspective of those of us who have been victims. Through the blog, I hope to shed light on this issue and provide resources for others who may be struggling with similar experiences. You can also find me on LinkedIn, where I share more about my background, achievements, and journey. I encourage you to visit my page to get to know me better and see the work I’ve dedicated my life to.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for considering supporting me in this journey. Your kindness and generosity will not only help me survive but will also enable me to continue creating, giving back, and building a life where I can help others thrive too.
With deep gratitude,
William Mera
