Every donation helps. Here’s Shakeria’s story in her own words:
My name is Shakeria Yorke, and I’m from Darliston, Westmoreland, Jamaica, one of the parishes hit hardest by Hurricane Melissa.
This storm completely changed our lives. My cousin, her little son, and I have lost absolutely everything. Our home was destroyed, leaving us homeless and with nothing left to start over. We have no furniture, clothing, shoes, bed, fridge, stove, washing machine, TV, laptop, work desk, or even food. Everything we owned was taken away in a matter of hours.
The hurricane entered through our parish, and we felt the full force of it. The wind, the rain, and the flooding were unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. You can see the heartbreaking aftermath in videos on my TikTok: @ms.prettykeria where I shared what’s left of our home and community.
Right now, we’re just trying to survive and rebuild from nothing. Any help, whether big or small, would mean the world to us. Your donation will go directly toward getting basic essentials:
• Clothes and shoes
• Food and water
• Bedding and furniture
• Appliances and home supplies
• Support to help us find a safe place to live again
Please, if you can, help us rebuild our lives. Hurricane Melissa may have taken everything we owned, but we’re holding on to hope and your kindness could be what helps us stand again.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read, share, or donate. Every bit helps. ❤️
