Hi everyone,
This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write. On Oct 28, 2025, Jamaica was struck by Category 5 Hurricane Melissa, and my home took a direct hit.
I sustained major damages to both roofs, and the house was severely flooded. Water poured through every space, damaging my furniture, kitchen cupboards, refrigerator, and more. What was once my safe space and the heart of my photography work, is now in shambles.
I’m deeply grateful to be alive and safe, but the aftermath has been devastating not just for me but Jamaica as a whole.
The damage and replacement costs are estimated at around 3.5 million Jamaican dollars (US$22,000) to make my home livable and functional again.
As many of you know, I’m a wedding photographer based in Montego Bay who has had the privilege of capturing love stories across Jamaica. My passion has always been preserving beautiful memories for others and now, I find myself needing a bit of help to rebuild my own.
Your contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward:
Replacing both damaged roofs and repairing extensive water damage
*Restoring my living and workspace so I can continue serving my clients
* Replacing essential items like my refrigerator, sofa, and kitchen cabinetry
*Purchasing a generator, most of Montego Bay power lines are down and repairs are expected to take months. Having a generator will allow me to keep essential equipment running and continue working while rebuilding
If you’ve ever worked with me, met me, or followed my journey, please know that your support means the world right now. Even sharing this link with family and friends helps tremendously.
I’ll continue to share updates as repairs begin and recovery progresses.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with me through this storm.
With love and gratitude,
Denise Mason
