Campaign Title: Help Tammie Rebuild After Hurricane Lala

Hi everyone, my name is Tammie. I was born and raised right here on the Big Island and like many of our neighbors, my life was completely upended by Hurricane Lala. I am currently displaced, essentially homeless, and reaching out for support to help me find a permanent place to live and rebuild what I lost.

What Happened:

During the peak of the hurricane, the sheer force of the wind peeled the tin roof completely off my house. This left my entire home exposed to the torrential rain all night. When it was finally safe enough to return the next morning, I walked into two inches of standing water across my entire floor. I literally had to drill holes in the floorboards just to let the water drain out.

The Aftermath:

Because the house was completely exposed to the elements and flooded, almost everything I owned was soaked, destroyed, and ruined beyond repair. I lost:

- My bed and mattress

- My couch and everyday furniture

- My computer and printer

- The vast majority of my clothing and personal belongings

The Challenge of Starting Over:

Right now, my immediate focus is survival—finding a safe, permanent roof over my head and replacing the absolute basics. However, to make this situation even more difficult, I am currently on temporary disability. Because I am surviving on a very limited, fixed income right now, coming up with the thousands of dollars needed for first month’s rent and a security deposit in today's housing market is just not something I can do on my own.

How You Can Help:

I am starting over from scratch. The funds raised from this campaign will go directly toward:

1. Securing Housing: First month’s rent and the security deposit for a new, safe place to live.

2. Basic Essentials: Replacing my ruined clothes, bed, and basic furniture.

3. Getting Back to Normal: Replacing my computer and printer so I can manage my disaster assistance applications.
