Help Carolyn Prevent Eviction and Rebuild Stability for Her Family
My name is Carolyn, and asking for help is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. But today, I’m at a point where I cannot get through this alone.
Three years ago, I left a 20-year marriage and a life I had poured everything into. Thirteen years earlier, my husband and I moved from New York City to North Carolina to care for his bed-bound parents. I stepped away from my interior design career to become a full-time caregiver—while raising our two small children.
Ten years later, when the marriage ended, I walked away from the house that had been paid for through my ex-husband’s trust. I left with nothing but my mini-van. No savings. No support. No recent work history after a decade of caregiving. I began rebuilding my life entirely from zero as a single mother.
Since then, I have fought hard for stability. I’ve had three major knee surgeries, moved three times, held two different jobs, and worked every day to create a safe life for myself and my kids. My most recent job ended unexpectedly due to a layoff, and despite my efforts, my finances have become overwhelming.
To stay afloat, I took in a roommate—but instead of helping, I was left with six months of unpaid rent. I am now three months behind on my own rent and at risk of eviction.
I am humbly asking for help to keep my home and regain stability.
