My son Hart's restaurant, Harry's Bar and Grill in Iowa City is closing. Here's what Hart says:
"After devoting every second of my life, every drop of blood, sweat, and tears, and every penny of my savings, over the last 3 years, my business is closing, I am facing at least one bankruptcy, and, essentially, starting from scratch financially at 55."
This affects him personally and financially. Folks like me invested in the project with faith and confidence in Hart's talent and integrity. The restaurant didn't make it. We are asking for help as shareholders and for Hart, who starts a new job January 19. As we navigate the next few months of legal proceedings and tying up of loose ends left by the restaurant, there are certain debts and bills to address that will linger during and after the bankruptcy process (taxes, legal/attorney costs, loan payments) and others that we cannot in good conscience walk away from. The next few months will be challenging, at best; likely impossible without help.
.
We're very much hoping to keep Hart's family home. Keeping current with both the mortgage and the SBA loan as we reorganize and stabilize will be vital to making this a possibility.
Please consider helping out if you can. The goal set may seem high, but it's a drop in the bucket toward what we are facing. Ordinarily, we don't ask for this sort of help, but the situation is not ordinary and is truly dire.
Thank you.
