Hi, my name is Sanjay Kuikel, and I’m a junior doctor working in regional Victoria, Australia. I’ve dedicated my career to caring for others—but now, my family and I are in urgent need of support.

While we were overseas visiting family, our home in Shepparton was broken into. A group of four to five individuals broke into our house and stayed there for over three weeks without our knowledge. We returned to find our home ransacked, unsafe, and stripped of many of our most valuable and sentimental belongings.

We lost over $50,000 worth of property, including:

Our wedding jewellery, which held deep emotional significance

Gold we had saved for years as financial security

Essential household items, including clothes, kitchenware, and our children’s belongings

And most painfully, our sense of security and peace of mind

This traumatic experience has left us shaken and emotionally distressed—especially my wife Nilima, who is a full-time student and mother to our 3.5-year-old daughter and 15-month-old son. We are now living in temporary accommodation while trying to rebuild our lives.
