Never thought I would be here, writing this story, but Sunday afternoon in just a few minutes, everything was thrown upside down.

I was outside my house, working on the new used camper I purchased only a week prior, when my phone alert system sounded.

It was a nice enough day outside, nothing gave the impression of anything beyond partly cloudy with the occasional virga cloud formations, where rain evaporates just bellow the cloud. So when I saw the alert was telling me to seek shelter immediately I was caught off guard. I looked up and noticed it was darkening to the northwest and I kid you not, a sudden breeze picked up. From that moment I had just a few minutes before a wall of debris formed in the wheat field that surrounds our house and headed right at me, my house and everything i own.

I had an emergency shelter plan, and I am incredibly grateful to the system of weather alerts that pin pointed my area directly and sent automated alerts, otherwise with how quickly it went from partly cloud to a tsunami of farm equipment and dirt, i would have been caught outside.

I am telling my story to appeal to my friends and family. Financially I am devastated and hoping to cover the basics of insurance deductibles and basics while we assess the real depth of our losses.

Thanks for reading my longer than needed story, it was just so crazy, and sharing seems to help.

The funds will be used to cover my relocation costs, as it is not feasible to live in the country without a vehicle. If there is any funds left over my plan is to use those funds to help fill in the gap between what was left to payoff the vehicle compared to the value paid by the insurance company.

I have gap coverage, but due to the nature of things, I am still left holding about 5k in debt.
