Rebuilding Abdullah’s Life After Losing Everything

My name is Maggie Cox. I’m a stay-at-home mother to an almost 11-month-old, a proud veteran, and the wife of an electronics technician. I currently reside in Virginia and had the privilege of meeting Abdullah through a family I’ve been assisting. His story has deeply touched me, and I kindly ask you to consider supporting his cause through a donation. Your generosity could make a meaningful difference in his life.

Please read Abdullah’s story below:

Help Me Rebuild After Losing Everything in Gaza:

My name is Abdullah Alsaidi. At just 23 years old, I have endured the unimaginable—I am the sole survivor of my family, left to navigate life after losing everyone I love. The walls of our home fell, and with them, my entire world disappeared.

I grew up in the heart of Gaza, in a small home filled with love, laughter, and dreams. My family was everything to me—my parents, Hassan and Reem, my three brothers (Abdulrahman, Abdulkarim, Muhammad, and myself), and my sister Lina, my best friend and role model.

Lina was a young, ambitious lawyer, full of life and compassion. She had eyes that dreamed big and a heart that embraced everyone. My mother, Reem, was my comfort—she stayed up late with me many nights, keeping me company while I worked or thought about the future. My brothers and I shared countless memories together, and Muhammad, the youngest, brought joy to every room. I also had a cat that I loved dearly—she used to play with me, bite and scratch in her playful way until I let her go. I miss her too.

But everything changed in an instant.

One terrible day, during the most recent war, our home—our safe haven—was struck and destroyed. The bombs did not just take down walls. They took my entire family. My father, my mother, my four brothers, and my beloved sister were all taken from me in a firestorm. I never got to hold their hands one last time. I never got to say goodbye.

In moments, I lost everything: my family, my home, my past, and the future I had dreamed of.

Now, I am completely alone. I have no roof over my head, no family to lean on, and very limited resources. Each day is a struggle—emotionally, physically, and financially. I think about my mother often, especially at night when I remember how she stayed up late with me. Sometimes the grief is so heavy that I cannot sleep, but I try to remind myself to keep moving forward. Carrying their memory with me while also keeping their dreams alive through mine.

Before the war, I was a professional soccer player and a software engineering graduate. I traveled across Palestine with our national team and dreamed of earning a master’s degree abroad. That dream is now on hold as I focus on simply surviving and rebuilding my life from the ground up.

This is why I am reaching out to you.

I am raising funds to cover my most urgent needs—shelter, clothing, food—and to hopefully one day continue my education and rebuild my career and healing journey.

Every contribution, no matter the size, is a light in this darkest chapter of my life. It is more than financial help—it is proof that the world has not forgotten me or my family.

Please, if you can, donate, share my story, and keep us in your thoughts. Together, maybe we can bring back some of the warmth and hope that war tried to take away from me.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️

Abdullah with Mohammed and Hassan. They have become like little brothers to him.
