I recently met a fellow amputee who asked me about my prosthetic leg. Later, by chance, we crossed paths again and had the opportunity to talk more. What I learned stuck with me.

This is a man who has had a hard life, but he is trying to turn it around. He has paid his debt to society, found faith, and is focused on moving forward. He has a family to support, goals for the future, and hopes of starting his own business.

But right now, one of the biggest things standing in his way is something many people never have to think about, proper prosthetic care.

He has been using the same prosthetic leg for far too many years without the support, maintenance, and replacement supplies needed to keep it working the way it should. For an amputee, staying mobile is not as simple as just having a leg. Over time, prosthetics wear down, bodies change, and critical supplies like liners, sleeves, socks, and components need to be replaced. Without that care, even everyday walking becomes harder, more painful, less stable, and more exhausting.

Without insurance, the cost of prosthetic care can be overwhelming.

As an amputee myself, I understand how important this is. A properly fitted and maintained leg can make the difference between barely getting by and being able to move through life with confidence, dignity, and independence.
